The firm began in the late 1960’s when Bill Shaevel, our founder, began the practice of law in a South Boston brownstone townhouse with the late Congressman Joe Moakley. The firm moved to downtown Boston in 1971, following Congressman Moakley’s election to Congress. Ken Krems joined the firm in 1977 upon graduation from Boston University School of Law. In 1987, Bill and Ken established Shaevel & Krems.
The firm moved to its current Boston location at 141 Tremont Street bordering on the Boston Common. From this location overlooking both the Boston Common and the State House, Shaevel & Krems has come to refer to itself as “A Law Firm Above The Common.”
